Hello! I am so exited about this school year! I hope your cadet has enjoyed school so far! This blog is here to provide you with information about our classroom. I will post a new blog every Monday morning! Keep checking back every Monday!

On Tuesday, I send home a packet of information. In that packet, you will find a letter about me, important information about our classroom, a supply list reminder (if you have already sent in supplies, do not worry about this page), a poem about the classroom, information about how to get the Remind 101 app and the Class Dojo app (more about this in a few), and homework for you. Yes, homework for you…I would like to get to know your cadet a little more. Please fill out the questionnaire and return it asap. I, also, included your cadets first homework assignment…This is to help us get to know each other better. “All about me” is do this Friday.

Remind 101 This app is one of the ways to contact me. Messages you send me with Remind 101, I will receive on my cell phone. Please down load the Remind 101 app.

Class Dojo This app is what the Kindergarten team has decided to use as our behavior system. Your cadet will receive positive point for positive behaviors and negative points for negative behaviors. I, also, receive notifications from this app on my phone. I will be grading their points for a Citizenship grade each six weeks.

Lunch Please make sure your cadet’s name is on the OUTSIDE of their lunch box. It will make lunchtime go much smoother. You MUST have a background check on file to eat lunch with your cadet. Please contact me if you need the paperwork to fill out.

Money Any money you send to school, please send it in an envelope or Ziploc with your cadet’s name, “Meeker”, and what it is for clearly written on it.

I will send newsletters home on Fridays. The newsletter will contain what we will be covering the next week. I will include spelling words and when tests will be given (for Alpha).

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. I try to respond as soon as I can, However, it may not be immediate.

Hello and welcome to my class! I am so excited to have your student in my class this year! I recently sent home a packet explaining more about myself and some things about our class. I will reiterate some information here!

We will have snacks daily at around 2:15. If you could please bring in a bulk snack with your child for the class it would be much appreciated. We will be starting snack time on Monday. When our class supply is getting low, I will send out a message.

Communication and Classroom Management:

As a team, Kindergarten has decided to use Class Dojo this year. There will be a paper coming home so that you can add yourself to our class. On the app you will be able to see how your cadet is doing for the day, my announcements, and you can message me any questions you may have if it is easier than emailing me for you. On the Class Dojo app children will be losing points for anything they may be doing wrong and they will be gaining points for doing the right things! If you ever do have any other concerns you can email me at myoung@goapa.org.

If you are sending a lunch with your cadet, please make sure that their name is on the lunch box or bag that it is coming in. This will help to make the process for lunchtime smoother. When paying for lunch or breakfast, please send the money in a baggie with your child’s name, the amount, what the money is for, and “YOUNG” written on it. If you would like to come to eat lunch with your child, you must have a background check on file. If you would like the paperwork to get this done, please send me an email and I will send home the paperwork with your cadet.

Field Trips:

If you plan on being a chaperone for any field trips, you must have a background check on file. I will let you know later on in the year of our field trips well in advance!

Please make sure that your child has brought all supplies on the supply list, ESPECIALLY headphones! They will need those as half of our curriculum is digital.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Email me with any questions, comments, or concerns at myoung@goapa.org.

I am sure I forgot something, but I will be adding a new blog every Monday and will include any information I forget every week when I post my new blogs! I am so excited to have your cadet in class this year and am hoping for a great year!

Welcome to my blog! Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I will be posting valuable information on here as well as my newsletter and pictures of your kindergarten students.

Here are a few “must knows” for my classroom.

I sent home newsletters on FRIDAYS.
Homework Folders will go home on MONDAYS and returned on FRIDAYS.
I will update the blog every MONDAY which will include a copy of the newsletter just in case it didn’t make it home.
I use ClassDojo to record positive and negative behaviors. You will get notifications on your phone as long as you download the app. Your code will be printed and sent home with your child by FRIDAY this week.
If you have ANY questions , feel free to contact me by e-mail a jreed@goapa.org or you can message me on Remind 101 or Class Dojo. I will not respond to messages after 7:00. I do have a second job two to three days a week. I will be unavailable after 3:45 for any conferences, meetings, phone calls, and messages on Tuesdays and Thursdays (sometimes on Wednesdays but it is a rare occasion).

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Ms. Reed

All week long students will be reviewing old math and have a small preview of upcoming math, via a packet. This is in preparation of the Compass pretest next week to help students perform the best they can on it.
