March 13, 2020

APA Family, Due to Governor Holcomb’s request to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Madison County superintendents met this morning to discuss plans for school closures. Although there are no known cases of COVID-19 virus in the county, after consultation with the Madison County Health Department and the Madison County Task Force, APA along with all Madison County Schools have decided to close school from March 16, 2020 until April 6, 2020. APA will be closed March 16, 2020 – March 19, 2020. We will then go on Spring Break. After Spring Break, we will be on eLearning days from March 30, 2020 – April 3, 2020. Our current grading period will be extended to April 10, 2020. All buildings will be closed as of 6:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2020. We will cancel all afterschool activities, sports practices, and field trips effective at 6PM this evening, Friday March 13, 2020 until Monday, April 6, 2020. This decision was not made lightly, and we recognize the hardship this may cause some families, students, and staff. Additional communication will follow regarding food services for days when school has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus. This is a rapidly evolving situation, and we will continue to provide updates as we receive more information or if new developments occur.

Respectfully, Jill M. Barker, Commandant

Here is a fun assignment for the kids! I would like for them to learn how to do basic coding with a website called Scratch. In the link below, I have included all the steps and information you will need to access this program. This is something I have been wanting them to learn for a while now, but never seem to have time to show them in class. Please contact me with any questions!

Here are some of the links in pdf above just in case you aren’t able to click on them through the document. Please open the document! It has important information you will need to sign up for a Scratch account.

Please continue working on assignments for all classes out of room 211 as posted in the previous post. Spanish should continue doing douolingo, and all Compass and APEX courses should be shooting for 66% completion.

Remember that you don’t have to use your school computer for these courses, you can use a home computer or sometimes a phone.
