Tomorrow students may have a uniform exemption day for $1 to raise money for the Verdin family.  Additional donations are encouraged and welcome. Isabella (Bella) is one of my son’s best friends and the family is just devastated by this loss.  I will have flyers for you to send home shortly.  It is attached if you don’t want to wait for mine.  Thanks in advance for helping get the word out to help this family.  I believe the funeral is going to be in Mexico.

Hello Families,

We are so excited for your child to teach you about counting money. Your child has been learning about coins in class. In this e-learning assignment, your child will draw coins to show how much it would cost to buy items from their local grocery store ads.  They will need an ad from their local grocery store to do this assignment.

If you need supplies at home to cut or glue please let us know and we will send scissors, glue, and a pencil home prior to the e-learning day.

This assignment is mandatory and must be completed and turned in no later than Tuesday, May 7th. The assignment counts towards your child’s math grade and they will receive a 0% if not returned. They will be graded on drawing the proper coins or bills to represent the price of the grocery items that they cut out of the ad. The coins must be colored the proper color and the amount written on each coin or bill.

The lack of completion also affects attendance for the school. Thank you for spending time learning with your child and allowing them to show you what they have learned so far.

Here are step-by-step directions….

  1. Get an ad/flyer from your local grocery store.
  2. Find and cut out the picture and price of 7 items from the grocery ad that your child would like to pretend to buy.
  3. On the “What I Want” worksheet provided, glue one item and it’s price in each of the boxes.
  4. Next to each item, your student will draw the correct dollar and coin amounts.
  5. Your student should label the amount of each coin or dollar bill.
  6. Color each of the coins or bills the color of the coins they are representing.
  7. Answer the question at the end of the assignment using a complete sentence.  Please remember to use a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and the correct punctuation.
